Protesters’ tents are burnt in Baghdad, Nasiriyah

Unidentified people set Iraqi protesters’ sit-in tents on fire in Baghdad, and in the city of Nasiriyah. The attacks against the protesters appear to be coordinated .In Baghdad, unknown people burned three protest tents without causing casualties.

Unidentified people threw a sound bomb at the tent of civil activist Alaa Al-Rikabi in Nasiriyah setting it ablaze. No injuries were reported.

Despite the escalation of attacks by unknown gunmen against the protesters, sit-ins around the country have witnessed an escalation in protests.

Protesters have rejected the appointment of former Communications Minister, Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, as prime minister tasked with forming the next government.
