More than 2,500 public transportation vehicles violate defense orders

Tuesday, the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) issued warnings against 2,850 transport agents due to the lack of adherence to the safety and preventive measures stipulated in the defense orders to prevent COVID-19, announced the director general of the authority, Salah al-Lozi.

Lozi added the commission has formed a number of field monitoring committees to monitor the adherence of various public transport modes to preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus.

Additionally, he said the commission formed inspection teams, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), to monitor the departure and arrival points in different transport sectors to ensure compliance with health and safety measures, which include wearing face masks, disinfecting buses regularly, and abiding to seat capacity limitations of 75 percent.
